SAMPLE WILL WORDING
The following sample wording options for structuring a bequest through a Will should help establish a legacy gift that best suits the donor's needs and wishes:

I direct my Estate Trustee to give to McCormick Care Foundation for the benefit of McCormick Care Group the sum of $_____ (or_____% of my residue) to be used for the purpose of _____________ (examples include: highest priority needs, or a specific program*), provided that if such purpose ceases to exist or ceases to be provided by McCormick Care Group, then the legacy shall not fail but the Directors of McCormick Care Foundation shall use such legacy for a purpose which most closely resembles the purpose set out above.

*Specific programs include McCormick Home's highest priority needs, McCormick Dementia Services' highest priority needs, or McCormick Dementia Services' Day Program.

SHARES & GIFTS IN KIND
DONATE SHARES
Donors contributing specific publicly traded securities "in kind" to Canadian private foundations or registered public charities, such as the McCormick Care Foundation, enjoy exemption from capital gains tax on any appreciation in the fair market value of the donation.
Eligible securities encompass a range of assets including stocks, bonds, trust units, exchange-traded funds, segregated funds, and mutual fund units. To qualify, the donation must be made "in kind," meaning the securities are donated in their current form without being sold. Additionally, the shares must be publicly traded on Canadian or other major international exchanges (private company holdings are currently ineligible).

GIFTS-IN-KIND
McCormick Care Foundation welcomes donations of gift-in-kind items for its two premier events: Fit for Care | Maggie's Run and Rtiz Gala. These events feature fundraising activities where items such as wine, trip packages, hotel and restaurant gift certificates, and experiential packages are showcased to raise funds for enhanced patient care at McCormick. New items that include their receipt of purchase will be accepted at the discretion of McCormick Care Foundation.
